Osaka song recording is a sonic snapshot of a vibrant metropolis that revels in its unique culture and effervescent personality. Featuring songs that bathe in neon, fizzle with sci-fi intensity and celebrate the city's unfussy love for delicious, saucy okonomiyaki, takoyaki and more, this third EP in our Japan series highlights the diverse musical contexts of Greater Osaka's largest ethnic minorities. Koreans and Okinawans brought their own idiosyncratic forms of music-making to Osaka, which reflected the colonial power hierarchy that shaped them as individuals and as groups. In turn, the local music scene was shaped by their contribution to Osaka's broader cultural fabric.
JOHN CAFIERO, producer of Crow's critically acclaimed Osaka Popstar And The American Legends Of Punk album, continues this theme with this follow up live performance LP, Rock 'Em O-Sock 'Em Live! The mini LP features cover art by Topps Garbage Pail Kids bubble-gum card creator John Pound. Each limited edition LP comes with an exclusive Topps Garbage Pail Kids trading card of the full band in concert.
Cafiero taps into a wide pool of 大阪 歌 レコーディング friends and collaborators to form the Osaka Popstar live backing band on this release. The resulting tracks are a high energy collection of infectious punk rock, with guest appearances by Jerry Only (THE MISFITS), Dez Cadena (BLACK FLAG) and Ivan Julian (RICHARD HELL & THE VOIDIDS).
