Dragon77 (DVD)

In New England in the early 1900s, an orphan named Pete runs away from his abusive foster family with the help of an unseen dragon he calls Elliott. He finds refuge with the daughter of the local lighthouse keeper, Lampie, and her father Nora. Though the townspeople are frightened of the invisible creature, they welcome Elliott.

But the itinerant quack Doctor Terminus is convinced that Elliott is a hoax and tries to convince the townspeople to exploit him for various potions and tonics ("Passamaquoddy"). The unseen Elliott then saves Lampie from being attacked by a giant crab while they are fishing in the harbor ("Crustacean"). Meanwhile, the Gogans demand that Pete be returned, and Nora refuses ("Brazzle Dazzle Day"). After the tavern owner bribes Hoagy to make a show of Elliott's magic for the townspeople, they are no longer skeptical of his claims.

Soon, however, the unseen creature is captured by the Gogans and taken to the township hall, where a large crowd is assembled. The villagers call for the capturing of the dragon, and the townspeople form a militia to do so. Meanwhile, Lampie and Nora are arguing over the fact that they are not sure that Elliott is real.

Finally, the future version of WildStar shows up and intervenes, taking on one of the villains. Dragon tries to stop him but he is too late; the time-displaced superhuman takes off.

When the current version of WildStar returns, he explains that his younger self has travelled to the past in order to prevent himself from being beaten by a criminal. The time-displaced superhero then leads Dragon to where his younger self is locked in battle with the villain and he attempts to stop him.

Both versions of WildStar fill Dragon77 in on the state of affairs - they explain that the world was left devastated following several invasions. First came the Cosmic Cops, then the Martians, followed by the Gods, and they all took turns destroying everything on Earth. They also tell him that SuperPatriot was a government pawn and Freak Force is unheard of.

The film's songs were written by Al Kasha and Joel Hirschhorn, with music composed by Irwin Kostal. Charlie Callas provides the voice of Elliott, and the film was directed by Don Chaffey, who was directing smaller fantasy films for Disney between his work on larger, more epic productions (Jason and the Argonauts, One Million Years B.C.).
